2016-03-12 IWD Party

The Latin American Social Forum and other groups organised an IWD celebration at the Latin American Hut in the Marrickville Community Centre in Addison Road.

The party started at 5pm and we sang about 6:30 in combination with the Sydney Trade Union Choir. The set list was:

  • Acknowledgement
  • Mantaku
  • Bread and Roses
  • Four Strong Women
  • Warrior
  • Makhosikazi
  • Refuge to a Refugee
  • El Pueblo Unido

“Warrior”  is particularly apt for International Women’s Day because it expresses women’s rage at rapes and murders that still occur in countries as civilised as Canada, where the song originated.
