The Australian-Turkish/Kurdish Community Services Co-Op celebrates International Working Women’s Day every year at their centre at 50 Susan St Auburn. We sang there first in 2018.
We warmed up at 1pm and sang for 30 minutes at 1:40pm at the Co-Op. This year the Co-Op formed a choral group of nine singers and presented several folk style songs about recent Turkish political events and themes. Ali was in the line-up, a last minute draftee he later reckoned.
Like last year, they treated us to the buffet lunch of Turkish food afterwards and an opportunity to mingle with the other musicians and the audience.
A night of Trivia, Celebrity Bingo and singing at the Marrickville Golf Club on Friday night the 8th of March 2019. Cathy caused much merriment with her composition “Precious Gift” and Deb led a feminist singalong near the end of the evening.
